Here's the 411 on day 1 of recording. Day 2 should be up tomorrow....everything's a little late sorry. Anywho...saturday must of been the longest day of my life. We decided to get started around 7:00am...right after breakfast. We had their band which consisted the 3 high schoolers, 1 college freshman, and a middle school back-up drummer. I had really no idea what to expect with their skill level. I had them work on the first song, so I could think of an arrangement. Let me just tell you...they blew me away. They really sounded like it could be on a cd. I realized that these kids don't have much, so their instrument or music is pretty much all they have. No computers, no internet, no cell phone, no i phone, no going out to hang out at night with friends, no TV...just God and music.
So they were great, but we did have trouble getting through the arrangement. Switching things here and there, trying to get it perfect. It took us probably 2-3 hours for that 1 song, and we were aiming for 7. Uh-oh....Then after we finshed that 1st song (took sing tee kha me) we had 4 kids come in to sing the first verse. 2 boys, 2 girls. They took maybe 3 takes and we were done with that. Crazy good. God has really blessed some of these kids with some voices.
The goal was to record the music for all 7 songs and try to get the voices for at least a few and then finish up sunday. Well, God likes to show us he has His own plans. It took us till about 4:30 pm to finish recording the band for the next 3 songs. The funny thing is I didn't even really have to come up with any arrangements, because these kids had worked things out to the last detail, because they had been playing these songs together like everyday for the last 3 years.
So 4:30 was upon us, and dinner was at around 6. We quickly called the kids to come and we finished recording the voices for the first 4 songs. I really dont know how to describe it when 100 kids are singing with reckless abandon because they love Jesus. I imagine it's something like how heaven will be.
So praise God for what he done today, but tomorrow we have alot more to do. We have 3 more songs to finish and we wont be able to start till after service, which will be about at 1:00pm. Half the day, the same amount of work.
Hopefully I'll get to upload some videos of the process soon....

Sounds like a lot of fun recording the kids. Praying for you and the kids.
